Mobile Communications

SMS

With almost 60 million mobile phone users in the UK, using Short Message Services (SMS) is a highly efficient method for reaching existing and potential customers.

ACT can ensure your business takes advantage of this market by providing the technology for SMS messaging. This method of communication can be used for both marketing purposes and business functionalities. For example, restaurants can receive bookings and send confirmations, job agencies can inform clients of vacancies by sending a SMS message to their mobile. Estate Agents, Bars, Marketing Professionals, Opticians, Distributors..... SMS can be effective in any industry.

ACT will work closely with you to design and implement a bespoke messaging application, tailored to your exact needs.

GPRS

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a non-voice service that allows information to be sent and received across a mobile telephone network.

The two main advantages of GPRS are speed and instant access. It is about 3 times faster than data transmission over fixed telecommunications networks and, subject to radio coverage, it facilitates instant connections - no modem is necessary. This is important in time critical applications, for example, credit card authorisation.

GPRS has also introduced several new applications that have not previously been available over GSM networks. You can utilise popular Internet applications for web browsing and chat over the mobile network, transfer files and explore home automation to provide the ability to remotely access and control in-house appliances and machines.

Note: It is not related to GPS (the Global Positioning System), a similar acronym that is often used in mobile contexts.
