Databases

We offer Database design, implementation and maintenance services for small to medium sized businesses from database driven websites for e-commerce to the good old-fashioned stock control inventories.

Over the years we have created a stock of templates which provide a foundation on which to build a database that matches your business needs - one that accomodates all the static and dynamic data required to enable staff to carry out their duties quickly and efficiently.

Database Design and Implementation

Geospatial Databases (GIS)

The British Standard BS7666 specifies a standard format for holding details on every property and street. It does not differentiate between commercial or residential properties, between occupied, developed or vacant land, between urban or rural or between addressable properties and non-addressable entities such as communications masts. Similarly the International Civil Aviation Organisation has a specified standard format for holding details of every airport, airway, and associated instrumentation. From these databases, populated maps and charts can be produced.

Developments in RDBMS, GIS, and the world wide web have resulted in an unprecedented data management environment for database systems that support geospatial objects (points, lines, and polygons) and SQL-based operations on those objects are termed geospatial databases.

We can help you to progressively transfer your operations in a geospatially aware manner and adopt a single consistent standard for GIS within your organisation.

SQL Server

Whilst Oracle is generally regarded as the de facto standard for relational databases, Microsoft is rapidly gaining ground with its SQL Server 2003 providing an enterprise data management platform any organisation needs to adapt quickly in a changing environment.

Microsoft 2003 provides core support for XML and Internet queries and boasts the lowest implementation and maintenance costs in the industry that can give you a competitive advantage. Every software license includes extensive management and development tools, a powerful extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tool, business intelligence and analytical services, and new capabilities such as Notification Services.

Revolutionary self-tuning and dynamic self-configuring features optimise database performance, while management tools automate standard activities. Graphical tools and wizards simplify setup, database design, and performance monitoring, allowing database administrators to focus on meeting strategic business needs.

Oracle

Oracle is to Relational Databases as Microsoft is to operating systems.

We have been building data warehouses with Oracle since 1992 and it is the best way to consolidate and organise all your data so it can be easily managed, accessed, and analysed. With a single management interface, self-tuning and self-diagnostic features, Oracle simplifies maintenance of your ever-expanding data warehouse.

The key to better decision-making is "delivering the right data, to the right place, at the right time."

Not only to the right place but also to the right person. Oracle provides for instant intelligence, data accuracy, data security, and lower cost of ownership.

MySQL

MySQL is a relatively new database solution that is proven to be commercially capable and extremely stable; the entire Google search engine relies on MySQL technology as its foundation. It is an extremely flexible relational database solution which we can use to power a wide range of possible solutions for your business.

Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access has all the standard attributes of a relational database and is excellent as an entry-level introduction to database technology yet sophisticated enough for professional developers. You can create or use powerful database solutions that make organizing, accessing, and sharing information easier than ever. You can access and use information from a variety of formats and programs including Extensible Markup Language (XML), OLE, Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), and Microsoft Windows® SharePointT Services.

Access 2003 supports themes from Microsoft Windows XP to give your forms a consistent design.
